Jailbreak

written by Area Trace No Search from Area Trace No Search

Thin Lizzy sang: "Tonight there's going to be a jailbreak, somewhere in this town."

I'm going to take a stab in the dark here, and guess... the prison?

Meanwhile, an example of GOOD POLICING. And good protesting, come to that.

Inní Mér

written by PC Plastic Fuzz from The Plastic Fuzz

I know this is not strictly a ‘police post’ but you gotta break it up a bit every so often.

A couple of things PC Plastic Fuzz likes right now, and a couple of things he hates right now...

Let’s star with the things I like:

I just found this new band Sigur Rós described as an Icelandic post-rock band with melodic, classical, and minimalist elements. The band is known for its ethereal sound and lead singer Jónsi Birgisson's falsetto voice. Basically, they’re bloody great. They remind me of Kent a little bit. Good stuff. One of my favorite tracks is Inní Mér Syngur Vitleysingur. Check them out.

The second thing I’m really liking at the moment is a HDMI cable to connect my laptop top my TV. I have my hi-fi linked to my TV already, which is now linked to my laptop. I can watch BBCi, DVDs, internet TV, music from iTunes - and a whole lot more – in brilliant quality.

One thing I’m really not liking is this foolish purchase from Argos last weekend. It’s a Junior Drum Kit. It was a BIG mistake. Don’t buy one! I’m having to sit here and write this post whilst wearing headphones with music on. It’s not like I can tell the kids to stop playing it in the middle of the day, what’s my excuse? It’s annoying?

The second thing I am not liking is Flaxseeds Oil. It tastes like shite and is very expensive. I’m taking quite a bit of it every day for my general wellbeing as it’s supposed to be pretty much the best thing you can put in your body, second to Snickers Bars, of course.

Lastly, I need a bit of advice with hat shaping. I was given a new hat when I switched from PCSO to PC and have had trouble shaping this one. I tried the elastic band trick but the part just above where the badge goes is very high, I’m after the “old sweat” look with my flat cap. Not that we get to wear it all that much. In fact, I don’t think It's seen anything but the boot of the car for the last month.

Any ideas?

NOTE: That's not my actual hat - I don't work for the Met.

The New Year

written by PC Plastic Fuzz from The Plastic Fuzz

For my last post of 2008 I thought I would share a few poignant quotes which I’ve kind of connected with and which are rather appropriate for this occasion.

Be always at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let each New Year find you a better man. ~ Benjamin Franklin

New Year's eve is like every other night; there is no pause in the march of the universe, no breathless moment of silence among created things that the passage of another twelve months may be noted; and yet no man has quite the same thoughts this evening that come with the coming of darkness on other nights. ~ Hamilton Wright Mabie

Time has no divisions to mark its passage, there is never a thunder-storm or blare of trumpets to announce the beginning of a new month or year. Even when a new century begins it is only we mortals who ring bells and fire off pistols. ~ Thomas Mann

As we count in the New Year, I reflect on my years mistakes, loving you was my favorite mistake of 2008. ~ PCPF (Me)

A lot of effort goes in to my mood track selections - which you’ll find near the top right of my blog. Just so I can revoke some of these moments in years to come, here is a list of mood tracks to remind me where I was, musically, in 2008.

Lisa Mitchell - Neopolitan Dreams, Andrew Bird - Fiery Crash, Smiths - Boy With A Thorn In His Side (Buckley Cover), Linkin Park - What I've Done, Kent – 747, Lamb – Gorecki, Devotchka - How it ends, My Brightest Diamond - Inside a Boy, Eddie Vadder - Hard Sun, Kings Of Leon - Sex On Fire, The Script - Before The Worst, The Rolling Stones - Wild Horses, Kings Of Leon – Closer, Des'ree - Kissing You, Kings Of Leon - Charmer

DJ Macca

written by Noddy from Welcome to Toy Town™

Thanks to my wee nephew for spotting this bit of meganews.

Sir Paul and dance music? Wrinklies really should grow old gracefully.

My sources (A1) tell me that the ex Mrs Macca is to release an album too. Intelligence provides that the genre is hip hop.
